Kevin Noe

Kevin Noe is a passionate supporter and promoter of composers, creators, and the arts of our time. He has commissioned and premiered over thirty-five new works written for new music ensembles and orchestras in the last seven years alone, and he has a particular interest in works which combine a variety of art forms including music, dance, theater, film, and visual arts. He regularly serves as writer, dramaturge, stage director, filmmaker, actor, and conductor of a variety of mixed-media, theatrical, and operatic productions. Since 2000 Mr Noe has been the Executive Artistic Director and Conductor of the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble (PNME), a group he has helped to bring to the forefront of experimental performance in the world of professional new music. He created an entirely new and unique performance vision for the group that blending visual, aural, textual, theatrical, and storytelling elements with newly commissioned works by emerging composers from the United States and around the world. Attendance at PNME shows now has grown an astonishing 600% in only six years, and the PNME has been listed three years in a row by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette as having given one of the top 10 performances in the city by any group for the entire year. In the past, he has held conducting posts at the University of Texas at Austin, Duquesne University, the National Repertory Orchestra, and the Pittsburgh Opera Center, and is currently a regular guest conductor at the Indiana University school of music, where he conducts operatic, symphonic, and ballet performances.
