ADAM BATTELSTEIN , originally from Houston TX , was graduated Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude from Middlebury College where he received a BA in Theater and English Literature. He won the Outstanding Performer Award at the New England ACDFA and in 1990 received their award for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Dance. He has performed with the following dance companies: Bill Evans Dance Co., Dance Gallery, Partners Dance Co., Zero Moving Dance Co. and Momix. In 1989, Adam joined Pilobolus. Since then he has performed and taught internationally as well as served as a collaborative choreographer for the company. He has been consistently acclaimed for his solo work in the company and was noted by the New York Times for his "comic genius" He ha s also been called “A master clown disguised as a dancer." More recently he has represented Pilobolus and the State of CT nationally and internationally as a master teaching-artist. In 1995 he scripted and helped create a Pilobolus children’s show which has enjoyed great success. In 1996, Adam began performing with Pilobolus’ two-person company, Pilobolus TOO, and teaching with the Pilobolus Institute. In 2007 he performed with Pilobolus at the 79th Annual Academy Awards. During the Summer months, Adam grows s organic vegetables for a farmer's market in Kent, CT - especially garlic, lots and lots of garlic. When not on the road, he can generally be found in the garden or the woods.
