Patrick Overton

director, Front Porch Institute

Patrick Overton is the director of the Front Porch Institute in Astoria, Oregon which is dedicated to creating resources for rural and small community arts and community cultural development. A nationally recognized community arts and community cultural developer, Patrick received the Missouri Governor's Arts Award in recognition of his lifelong contribution to the arts and culture in Missouri. For the past five years, Patrick has focused on the work of the Front Porch Institute by working extensively with rural and small communities and providing organizational development and strategic planning services for rural/small community arts organizations, city governments, and counties in several states. In addition, he worked with the Utah Arts Council to develop the "Pilot Program," a two year certificate program designed to provide leadership training and professional development for paid and non-paid community-based arts administrators working in under-served areas and rural and small communities. Patrick currently serves as the cultural planning facilitator for Ashland, Ohio and Duvall, Washington and is an organizational strategic planner for the Utah Shakespearean Festival. In the fall of 2002, he developed a county-wide Cultural Facilities Master Planning Project under the direction of the Davis County Council of governments in Davis County, Utah.
